Domestic Violence Outreach Coordinator
Boat People SOS, Inc. (BPSOS) is seeking a full-time Outreach Coordinator for its Community Against Domestic Violence (CADV) Program. BPSOS has been providing services to the Vietnamese community for over 25 years. In 2000, the CADV Program was established to conduct community outreach and education on domestic violence within the Vietnamese communities in the Northern Virginia area. The CADV Program has since expanded to serve the Vietnamese community nation-wide.
Salary: Depending on experience, plus benefits.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Conduct community outreach, education, and advocacy within the DC and Maryland Vietnamese community on domestic violence and services available to victims;
2. Advocate and interpret for victims who need access to services;
3. Provide case management and referral services to victims;
4. Conduct cultural sensitivity trainings and in-house assessments for DC and Maryland service providers;
5. Establish collaborations/partnerships with local service providers;
6. Assist Program Manager in creating and improving outreach and evaluation materials;
7. Collect, track, and submit performance data for all activities performed.
Goals:
1. Clients receive effective, quality service in a timely, professional manner;
2. BPSOS is well-represented among public and private agencies;
3. Collaborative networks are strengthened and improved to form a seamless network of services for survivors of domestic violence;
Requirements:
1. Fluency in English and Vietnamese;
2. Demonstrated commitment to ending domestic violence and sexual assault;
3. College degree or equivalent experience;
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle crisis situations professionally;
5. Strong communication and presentation skills.
6. Possession of personal car for transportation throughout metro DC area.
