Applying to DOL's Internship Program
What does the application require?
1. Resume, including Social Security Number.
Note: Please keep resumes to 1 page.
2. Proof of academic enrollment and/or current academic transcript.
3. Cover letter, listing up to three agencies you are interested in working with.
What constitutes proof of academic enrollment?
Proof of academic enrollment consists of any document from your school that confirms that you are a current student of that institution. Most of the time a current transcript will show that you are a student. If your transcript does not confirm that you are a student at the time in which you submit your application, you can submit a letter or any other document from your school Registrar or Dean's office certifying that you are enrolled as a student in that institution at the time in which you submit your application.
Does the academic transcript need to be official?
Official transcripts are always best. If however, your unofficial transcripts clearly have your school information as well as your personal information they at times are accepted. Especially if they are clearly able to show proof of your current student academic status.
What are the deadlines to apply?
Completed application materials must be submitted to Melissa Naudin, DOL Intern Coordinator, prior to the following deadlines:
* Summer 2006 — Turn in applications by March 1, 2006
(Candidates notified around early April 2006.)
When are decisions typically made?
Fall — Qualified applicants will be notified for follow up interviews and positions will be filled on a rolling basis through early October.
Spring — Qualified applicants will be notified for follow up interviews and positions will be filled on a rolling basis through early February.
Summer — Candidates notified around early April.
