1) White tiger exhibit at the Mirage. Famed illusionists Siegfried & Roy once presented a world-famous magic show complete with lions and rare white tigers at the Mirage hotel. When Roy Horn was bitten and dragged offstage by a white tiger in the fall of 2003, the show was canceled. Fortunately, Horn is recovering, and you can still see the big cats that are the show’s legacy. Step inside the Mirage’s lobby, and there to the left, several of the rare white tigers play and nap inside a lavishly painted habitat resplendent with swimming pool and fountains. 9) The flaming volcano at the Mirage. Every 15 minutes from 7 p.m. to midnight, the Mirage’s faux volcano erupts only a few steps from Las Vegas Boulevard, sending fire 100 feet into the sky and transforming a waterfall into streams of molten lava. It’s a rough life for the mallard ducks who hang out at this tourist attraction, for they must take wing every 15 minutes or risk being flambéed. But it’s great fun for Homo sapiens.

10) The Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo Las Vegas. This resort is host to a collection of more than 300 birds, including a flock of pink Chilean flamingos. African penguins, swans, ducks, and turtles also cavort amid lush tropical foliage imported from all over the world.

So you like to eat? I love to eat, but the idea of a buffet at times seems like a bit of waste. However, if you like quality and quantity you want to consider, the buffets at Mandalay Bay, Aladdin, Mirage, Bellagio and the Rio. Let me explain my rationale. While each of these buffets tend to be on the higher end of the price scale you need to know that you do get what you pay for. You could spend $10 at Circus Circus and end up with a backache from the numerous times you will be visiting the porcelain ranger after your meal. With good buffets you get quality meals.
What you do need to know is that you need to avoid the stuff on the line that is meant to distract you. Potatoes, Rice, bread, vegetables and anything else that is considered a side dish should be kept to a minimum. Really, do you want to spend $22 for a dinner roll?

Hit the crab legs, hop on the shrimp, devour the prime rib.

If you need to take a break and hit the restroom, so be it.

Cheap Food in Las Vegas

The Excalibur is more of a budget hotel so you will find a few options here for low cost dining. The Village food court offers many choices for decent cheap food. The food is cheap but it is not great. The Sherwood Forest Café is cheap and it has reliable food. In other words you will get what you need for a low price. They have a few decent sandwiches on the menu that are worth the $8.

If you are at the Luxor you can find a couple of places to eat for a small price. La Salsa is located on the Mezzanine and low priced Mexican Food. It is a decent alternative to sitting down at the buffet or coffee shop. The Luxor also has a Deli where you can get decent sandwiches. Both options offer meal at under $10.

The Mandalay Bay can be a very pricey place to try to get a meal but you can go to the food court near the convention center and easily get a sandwich and a drink for under $10. Try the House of Blues for lunch or dinner and the average entrée’s are between $10 and $15. Red, White and Blue has some lower priced entrée’s as well but the overall bill can make a move upward very fast. Raffle’s Café has some low priced entrée’s and on a relative scale it is friendly to the wallet. Try the Pastrami on Marbled Rye; it’s worth the $14.

Pizza for Cheap: Two pieces of pizza and a drink for $3.99. These pieces are the size of small countries. Split the meal and the drink and two people eat for four bucks

Specials: For $3.95 get a large portion of Spaghetti with garlic bread

The Plaza in Downtown Las Vegas: This is an old School Casino in Downtown Las Vegas right at the end of Fremont street. The cafe still has old school prices.

Steak and Lobster $9.99: The two lobster tails are a little on the small side but in some restaurants they would charge you $20 just for the lobster. The dinner rolls are worth the price of the meal they are so good.

Prime Rib $7.99: It was a little dry but the size of this piece of meat was impressive. Some retaurnats charge you $3.50 for iced tea, at this price I can deal with the dry meat

BBQ Ribs $6.49: It's not a huge slab but at six bucks what would you expect?

Fish and Chips $7.99: This was a good meal even if it seemed just a bit over priced relative to waht else was offered. A little greasy but thats what made it good.

Spaghetti $5.99: You cannot get this meal anywhere else in town for the price. The plaza has to be losing money on food, so go get some
