First, it is not a joke though it sounds like it.

The problem is it cut my tire about half an inch in length and I probably
also 1/2 inch in depth. The tire is not yet flat. Do you think that can cause
a potential problem on a long trip though?. Should I bring to dealer for check up? I bought the maintenance package; wondering it this kind of problem got covered under the warranty. Are you familiar with this kind od problem? What would you do if you were in my position?

New car with new tire should be under warranty, read the tire warranty brochure they gave to you with car booklet. You should check with the dealer. You should not drive the car in that condition.

Thà không biết thì thôi, chớ biết là nó bị rồi thì để chạy thì hơi không an tâm.
Để cái bánh kiểu này, chạy xa lộ không an toàn đâu.

Under cold weather it is ok but if you drive with it on hot road, it will go boommm :)
My brother blew his tire on freeway like this and spent $80 to tow the old 95 Camry to a shop to put a brand new tire on.

Yes, you need to check those tires. Most of them carry warranty.

I think he's out of luck.
MFR does not cover "nail and bottle" problem :D
If U buy the tire with road harzard warranty, U may ask for replacement b/c it's a safety issue.

All my tires from Costco do carry this road hazard warranty for no additional charge. If it's not repairable, they will prorate the tires and give you another one.
