Emuds.com to check for price. 2007 is new model. Therefore, new techologies and equipments better then the old one. 2006 is the last year of Second gen of CRV. You can get the 2006 at cheap price because they want to get rid of the old model anyway...

SX,

Buying a brand new model (hot) is very hard to beat them down on price.
But it does not mean U can't :)
What I would do,
1) Use email or fax to send them (at least 5 dealers) a request for drive out price (with TTL). The reason U want DO price cuz some dealers try to sneak in some fee for profit.
2) They will reply with some bozo price (your case is even higher than MSRP). At this time, reply back and tell them that U're ready to come in and pick the car TODAY (please be ready to do so) if the price is right (try to beat them down to invoice). Do not give them your offer yet.
3) They will send you a better offer (after talking to MGR) but it's still above invoice.
4) Now, U reply back and tell them that if they give U $1000 below invoice, U can come to pick up the car (make sure U need to be sincere about getting the car).
5) They will reply and say there is no way they will lose money in a HOT car. They may give U a better price (one more time). If not, ask for a better price.
6) Up to now, U should get kinda close to invoice price (not yet). U need to be little creative. Remember U have 5 cards (dealers) in hand. U need to know how to play your cards. Now, U can email/fax/call dealer A and tell him that dealer B has given U a better price. Dealer A may or may not decide to beat dealer B price to get your business but U have nothing to lose (it's all part of the game). Keep doing it until U get a good offer from some dealer.

These are just some basic steps I can give U (from my own experience).
But there are some other factors involved (sweet talk, go to the dealer and do some cat walk may help, ...)

Oh no,
U cannot trust/deal (hardly get a good deal) with those dealers from edmunds site.
The reason is they have to pay good money for advertising.
What I would do to begin with:
1) google to get all local Honda dealers (try some in the close cities as well).
2) go to their website and get the email address for internet sale (normally it's like internet@cardealer.com or sale@cardealer.com).
3) or get the fax number if U want to do the fax method.
4) begin your fun.
Remember that U need to be patient because U're playing a game with them.
U can report here the progress if U want and see if I (or anyone else) may advise U further.

SX,

What part of the country are you residing? I may do some research to see what people are paying. I am totally agree with what CW said, in fact, i have bought 6 new cars with the same method. Save a lot of money without wasting your time at the dealers.

Also, what model, options, color .... and so on.

I just went over a couple forums to see what people are paying for this vehicle. It is apparently a HOT vehicle especially the 07 model. If your are looking for the 07, your chance of getting the INVOICE price is slim but not impossible. someone got the invoice deals on the 12/30 and 12/31/06 since it is the last days of the year so dealers want to meet their year end quota.

Try the method that CW said for yourself or use these lines:

------
Hi there,

I'm in the process of purchasing a NEW 2007 Honda CR-V LX AWD. The exterior color can be one of the following, but not limited to: Borrego Beige Metallic, Green Tea, Whistler Silver, Black, or Gray. Please let me know what is your best price (including dealer fees, tax, registration if applicable)?

I have multiple quotes from many different dealers. If you give me the BEST deal then I'll buy it from you. I WILL PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE AS SOON AS THIS WEEK.

I'm looking forward to hear from you.

[Your Name and contact here]
------------------------------

Send this to all dealers in our area and the surrounding areas (200-300 miles radius). You will receive emails from them, wait until you got back a few quotes, compare them then send email back to these dealers and ASK FOR INVOICE. They will tell you "No Way, i'm loosing money." Then they will give you their price (almost always what you are NOT willing to pay). Now, you can give them what you're willing to pay (I will go for 300-500 over my initial offer, which is the invoice). Work with them back and fore until you are OK with the price.

Now, take the BEST quote you have and send to the other dealers and ask them to BEAT that, choose the dealer(s) that is convenience for your service in the future or the one that you like best. Dealer usually beat other's quotes for 200-300 bucks easy.

Post what you got back from these dealers (take out the dealer name and your name if you wish) so others can see and please let us know how it went.

Good luck. buying car is fun if you know how to play the game.

Why are you in such a RUSH? You haven't test drove the car yet and agree to buy? Anyway, you have NO OBLIGATION to buy that car at all. If after the test drive, you don't "like" anything, I mean just a little thing, tell him/her straight and WALK OUT. The saleman/woman will ask "What can I do to earn your business?" Now it is your turn to spoil. Do you like to roof racks, step sides, hood protector, All weather carpet (Very useful for Denver weather and it's about $100), a few oil changes or anything else. When you are serious to buy, they will distcount another $200 easy.

Keep in mind: "DON'T EVER INSULT THEM AND ALWAYS ACT PROFESSIONAL. RESPECT THEM SO THEY WILL RESPECT YOU."

$21,500 is about $500 above INVOICE plus Honda gives dealer 3% of MSRP (about $700) for Holdback, so they can make a total of $1200. Ask them to share with you that $200 extra and they can keep that $1000.

Anyhow, try your best and good luck. post pics if possible. If anything else, let me know.

The price of the car is one thing and the interest and monthly payment is different. Make sure you read all the agreement before you sign the paper. Some dealer low the price of the car but they jack up the interest unless you pay cash...

Happy Fun on your new CRV...

Hi CCS , This is what i got back from dealer untill to day :)

1/ Our best offer on the requested model is noted below for your immediate consideration.

New 2007 Honda CR-V LX 4WD Automatic - $21995
(Price includes dealer destination fee.) Excludes applicable taxes, and $369 dealer fee.

2/ Thank you for your email. Our best Internet price on the new 2007 Honda CR-V 4WD LX that we have been discussing is $22194 plus applicable sales taxes. This price includes our dealer handling fee and the destination fee that Honda charges to ship us the car. Your sales taxes are calculated where you register the car - usually your home address - not where you buy the car. You pay the registration fee yourself in 60 days when your temporary license plate expires and it is determined by the Department of Motor Vehilces in your home County.

3/
I've located a Borrego Beige Metallic. If you are interested please contact me as soon as possible. These CR-V's are selling VERY fast. The pricing will be as follows. MSRP $22,395 and your price would be $21,674+Tax+$0.00 Dealer Handling.

Yes it's the LX 4X4 and this is a hot car right now. Yes dealers have a little bit of profit built in at invoice. The price I've quoted is going to be the best you are going to see. You will probably find someone to match it but I think you will not be able to save any money.
Let me know

Invoice is around $20,914. I work by appointment only so you will have to give me enough notice for me to be available. I did make a small error in the price I quoted. the price to you is $21,614.00+Tax+$0.00 Dealer handling. Have you driven a CR-V yet?

I make appointment to drive test to day, but yesterday we have snow here, and he call me back tell me may be i better wait untill Monday because not good ideal to drive test in snow street ...
i feel he don't have a car yet, and that why he tell me wait :)

After your test drive make your first offer at $21000 and NO MORE HIGHER. If they don't want to sell it, go back to your office/home and send your offer thru email to ALL the dealers that replied to your inquiry at this price.

I'm sure that you can get this car for 21.2k plus taxes (including ALL fees). It's your hard-earned money, spend it wisely.

Good Luck,

SX,

I'm sorry to say that U made the biggest mistake when it comes to buy a car:
1) "i hate to deal with dealer" - It likes U sit down at a BlackJack table and U hate to play BJ.
2) "i hate to waste time" - It's YMMV here b/c time = money, U either waste some time or money when buy a car. But if U plan well and have good technique, U can squeeze some of those in your pocket.

About finance, if U have good credit, it's always best to get pre-approved from CU. Dealer's Finance will ALWAYS give U higher interest rate.

I agree with you i make a biggest mistake when hate dealing with dealer and hate to waste time, but after some dealer return my quote i knew what i have to pay , may be i pay more than few hundred but i hear some story about buy the car, my sister she go buy a car, she just want 50 $ off from the car she like but they don't sell for her, and she have go to the other dealer to buy the car she don't like the color same price with the other one,
About finance, i ask dealer check for me the rate from some credit union bank, they found one 6.25 for 60 month , i think that a best rate i can have,
Thanks Coldwind for your advice :)

Sis SX,

I'm sorry to say that U made another mistake in finance.
Remember this, they're there to make money. U ask them to check the rate from some credit union bank, of course they will but they will make another 1% (or some fixed referral fee).
It's too late now but what U should've done is checking the rate from online.
Sometimes, CU or bank has some special offer (special rate, 0.25-0.5% discount for auto draft, 0.25% for preferred member, ...). No dealer can match or give U this kinda deal.

I believe hhnguyen used to be the car saleman. He or some other member can add some "inside tricks" for VCB members to learn.

Anyway, I forgot to congrat U on the new car.
For others, I hope this is a good example !!!

Another note I want to add in auto finance:
U do not want to get an auto loan from big banks (BoA, Chase, Well Fargos, WaMu).
They're usually high.
Credit Union is your best bet.
Make sure U ask for "special promotion/option".
