View Full Version : is costco gas good? which is?
i think this question is most appropriate here.
i usually fill gas at chevron (prefer) or shell, which are recommended here http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html . but costco gas is just too cheap. how's the quality of costco gas?
and what do you use?
i hope cheap gas doesn't mean bad quality. i don't want to damage my car.
thx
Found this to prove my point

Gasoline is gasoline whether you're in Florida or California, right? Wrong. There are different concentrations of elements like sulfur, for example, that change the chemical composition of a batch of gasoline.

all brands are the samel..and all octane level every where is as it is...it doesn't matter where u pump...because those higherr price brands are paying for their ads costs and operating costs...and they jack their price for those cost and u're paying for them. Go for your cheap brand ones...

Costco gas will not damage for car. But are you willing to wait for 15 minutes in line? Costco gas station is full of anger people waiting to pump cheap gas heheheheh
BTW Costco gas carried only 87 or 91. Its either cheap or the best hehe
actually i fill gas around 8am or 1pm. line is not that long. i see longer line at arco & other cheap places.
now i fill costco 2 times, then either shell or chevron to clean

I work for a gas information company. Just octane level is diff for gas 87, 89, 91. Its up to your car for what gas level. Its not diff between gas brand. Go for the cheap one

I think gas is diff between brands. Detergent amount and technology plus how they clean their gas. Try Bp and Shell at the same octane level, you will see the diff.

I asked my boss about this sometime ago, he said that detergent doesn't make diff on your car.

That is not quite true :)
I wonder what "gas info company" U work for ...
Techcron from Chevron makes Chevron famous (even over Shell or Exxon).

I've been using this for my car (s) for quite some time and it does really good job.
http://www.chevron.com/products/prodserv/fuels/additives/concentrate_plus.shtml
Octane rate (87, 89, 91, 93) differentiates gas levels but lubricant/additive differentiates the name.
It would not hurt (there is some exception) your car if U pump some no-name gas but it sure helps if U pump some good name like Chevron, Shell, or Exxon, ...
