My car, highlander 2005, turns on the tire light (not enough presure). I already pump more air but the light is still on. Do you know how to turn it off?:reallymad
Thanks
I have a Scion, it is in the glove compartment

Same here! after awhile, I gave up, bring it to dealer asked them to adjust pressure for all 4 tires and it off until now (4 months already). Reason: they have the good pressure gauge and we don't. the air pressure gauge at the gas station is not accurate.
Good luck bro

for most cars, you have to reset it after you put the air in. Read the manual, it will show you how.

yup, read it more than 10 times, reset after reset but it does not work because the pressure gauge from the gas station does not get much details and accurate. For example: got 32 psi on all tires from gas station but it got 34, 35, 31 read from the dealer.

hmm I think just hold the button for 30 sec it should reset the pressure and the light will go off! I don't know about Highlander but my RX350 sometime got low pressure the light will come on and I just pump more air (35psi/each) and press the button hold it for few sec then it will go off!

Thanks all. I reset dozen time but not work. Like CafeDang said I may need to use a good pressure gauge. I will try like BBOMK.
I change tire, rotate tire. There're nothing connect to the tire so how can the car measures presure???? Need to hear an answers from an engineering or a car expert.

You should check your spare tire air pressure too. Let me know if this helps.

Thank Mormonzx, I saw it on another web site too but I did not have time to check my spare tire yet. It's snow and too cold in my area so I am lazy. I believe it works. I will check and let you know.

Have you ever thought about a SENSOR INSIDE THE WHEEL??? It do not have to be a engineering degree master to tell you that.
Find more information here :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire_Pressure_Monitoring_System
Direct TPMS delivers real time tire pressure information to the driver of the vehicle - either via a gauge or a simple low pressure warning light. These systems employ physical pressure sensors inside each tire and a means of sending that information from inside the tire to the vehicle instrument cluster.

Yes sir, ALL OF US ALREADY KNOW THAT THERE IS A SENSOR TO MEASURE THE PRESURE. THE QUESTION IS HOW CAN THE SENSORE SENDS SIGNAL TO THE CAR. You said that "sending that information from inside the tire to the vehicle instrument cluster", HOW?. By cable, NO, there no cable connects directly from wheel to car, by send signal through air, YEP, but too complicate & expensive. ANYWAY, I BELIEVE THAT YOU'RE BETTER THAN AN ENNGINEERING, CHEERS. Thanks for your information about the TPMS :hair:
FYI, I talk to a car technician and he told me that we need to pump more air to all tires as well as the SPARE TIRE. THERE IS A RESET TIRE BUTTON ABOVE THE BRAKE PEDAL (in case of HIGHLANDER, in another model it should be AROUND THAT AREA). AND I FOUND IT. I don't see or miss it in manual. You can do it yourselve and save big bugs. CHEERS. :ole: :bigdance2:

First of all, yes they actually send signals thru the air and powered by small batteries (searching google). Secondly, the technology is not complicated or expansive since I read the news long time ago that MIT engineers can make 1-cent ID chip that have been used inside clothes, etc. :hair:

I've learned lots about tire pressure sensor from you guys. Now let drive the 2005 Toyota Highlander to go for the long distance like go fishing see if the sensor works or not. I'll see you in Ocean City.
