Of those 4, SD870IS stays on top with no doubt.
The best feature it offers is wide-angle capable, x100 better when taking pics in the close area such in living room (hơn 100 lần thì nói hơi quá :))
However, never seen its price drops below $200.

For personal reference, men don't like the look of SD1000/SD1100 series.

SD 1000 > Smallest in all 4, it fit in the pocket very well... I got the silver one when I traveled back to Vietnam and it stay there :) :)

SD 1100 > This is new model of the SD1000 > I think it the sam size as the SD1000 but not rectangle like the SD1000... I need money to buy one... hehehe

SD870IS > My brother has this one but it kindna bulky to put in the pocket. Pictures quality is better than SD1000

SD 850 > Same size as the SD870IS.. I got a chance to touch it when I was in Vietnam. A group of people in the coffee shop, I went over to their table to ask them to borrow their camera to compate with the SD870.. They let me borrowed it...


Last month, I need to buy a camera for my older sister. I did a little research to all of them and the one that I chose for my sister is "SD750", why this model ?? Because it older model but the quality of pictures, functions, size and the look like between SD1000 and SD870IS. The screen size is the same as SD870IS (3 inches) and SD1000 (only 2.5), the only thing missing from the SD750 is the IS. The best of all, you can get the SD750 around $160 brand new and $20 for 4 gigs SD card then you can shoot many picturs you like :) :)

SD870 is famous for its wide angle lens but no optical view finder, only LCD. SD850 is not a wide angle one but zoom is slightly better 4x vs 3.8x of the SD870. Wide angle is very useful for taking pics of group or party. If you want both wide angle and optical view finder, go for SD800 but it's hard to find this one now. Hope this help.

New camera SD770, SD1100 are overpriced, don't buy them.
SD750 3" LCD, SD850 2.5" LCD are good and match your budget. I like SD870 but it's still $250, I'm waiting for price to drop.

thanks all, I'm thinking either SD1100 ($219.99 in Amazon ) or SD850 ($210 ). My parents need IS, so SD750 would not meet their standard.

Yeah, I like SD870 too, would like to get one. I told my parents I can give them my SD550 but they didn't want to.

SD1000 costs $120 compare to SD1100 $220 because it just came out in April.
We're talking about pocket camera Kaboom, not SLR alike.

Pentax announces 10 megapixel digital camera for $140I’m not totally convinced anyone who is only willing to spend $140 on a digital camera really needs 10 megapixel resolution, but I’m sure there are folks out there who will want it, so let’s take a look at what else the newly announced Pentax Optio E60 delivers for its budget price.

The Optio E60–which uses a 10.1-megapixel CCD–features a relatively wide 32- to 96mm (equivalent) f/2.9 to 5.2 lens in a relatively compact form factor (3.9×2.3×1.0 inches, 6.2 ounces). It offers some nice features like the super-easy-to-use Green mode that’s perfect for digital camera novices, a face recognition mode that detects up to 10 faces, and an Auto Picture mode automatically picks from 7 shooting modes depending on your shooting environment. Other nice touches for newbies are the Image Recovery function, which retrieves accidentally deleted images, and the camera’s ability to use standard alkaline or Lithium disposable AA batteries (as well as NiMH rechargeables). Where the camera scrimps a bit is in its smallish 2.4-inch LCD and its lack of optical image stabilization. Instead there’s a Digital Shake Reduction mode, which automatically selects a high ISO setting (up to 6400) to help reduce blur. Pentax plans to ship the camera in October.
