How do I do a fresh install of Post-Nuke

Upload the files into your root directory.
CHMOD config.php 666
If you are on virtual hosting, or cannot make a SQL DB from a script, make your DB at this time. The rule of thumb, if you can make a DB from phpMyAdmin, then the install script will make the database for you, otherwise you need to make it.

Point your browser to install.php (should be in your root directory)
Follow instructions from there.
Edit your config.php to enter the proper database settings
Finally, delete your install file. This could pose a security risk if you leave it on your server.

On what major points will Postnuke be different from PHPnuke?

What is the main difference between PostNuke and myPHPnuke? Thanks for any help!Mark

myPHPNuke was a fork off the 4.4 version of PHP-Nuke. PostNuke forked from the 5.0 version of the script.

Beyond that, our differences are more philosophical, than anything thing else. PostNuke believes in a modular system with a very small core set of files, where as myPHPNuke wants a one stop install, with addons integrated and weaved through the script.
