In addition...

2) 3 branches of legal system at Fed. Local level:
a) Legislature-- Federal and State Statutes
Statutes= Legislative bodies that adopt laws, i.e House of Senate , and House of Representative.
You have 2 levels of this, one at the State level, one at the Federal Level.

b) Judicial _--
Highest is the Supreme Court.
Next are federal courts - 13 judges for 13 circuits ( each circuit handles more than 1 state)
Each Fed. Circuit has 1 Appelate court ( Appelate stands for Appeal, if they are not happy with something they can appeal for review & re trial)
Each Fed. Circuit also got broken down to District Courts at the more local level.

3) Legal rights of citizens vs. non citizens & minors
Voting Rights:
Citizens can vote.
Non citizens can't
Minor can't.

Legal conflicts abroad
If citizens ever get caught in a legal conflict abroad, he/she can asked the U.S. embassador to step in and interferee to help & protect him/her from being prosecuted under foreign's laws.
Non U.S. Citizens can not.

Civic duties:
Citizens are required to attend jury & similar civic duties, to abide by local laws such as good samaritans, traffic laws, etc...
Non citizens are not required to perform jury duties unless they register with DMV and has DMV issued licenses.
They still have to follow laws
Minors can not drive, are not required to attend jury duties .
