how u radical by hand ???
radical 81 = 9
but example like 84 not using calculator

84 = 4 * 21 = 2 sqrt 21
NguyenKhang
10-17-2002, 05:42 PM
84 /2 = 42
42/ 2 = 21
21/3 = 7
7 = prime number ---> Stop
So, 84 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 7 = 2² x 21
So, √84 = 2 √ 21

i am looking for radical in the whole number .. i mean i can do that nguyenkhang .. but i'm looking for this
radical 84 = 9.1651....
yeah .. i was looking for how to do it by head instead of calculator that would result 9.1651 instead of radical 2 X 21
thanks anyway .. if give me a reply if u know ..
căn ra số luông chứ không có phải là đơn giản nó ra .. :rolleyes: :mad:

HT chỉ cho nè:
Give me any numbersssssss. For example 12345 oke??
From right to left, we group 2 digits into one group---> 1,23,45 like this. Then we take square root of the very first group meaning --->1
but we know that square root of 1 = 1.. ( If someone asks me that the 1st group is not 1 but "any 2 digitsssss" say 34. Oke.. We still take square root of 34 but take only the Integer number only.. --> sqrt of 34 = 5 "..lets go back to the problem..
12345-->1,23,45
square 1 = 1 ( the digit of the answer will be 1)
take the answer and time by 2 --> 1*2 = 2
since we already finish with the 1st group (1)
bring down 2sd group 23 and we compare with 2 (1*2). We have to find a number which time by itself and 2 ( meaning 2 goes togehter with this"number")but still less than or equal to 23. Therefore this number must only be 1, because 1 times 21 =21 <23
So we already have the answer with 2 digits 11......
Now we subtract 23 from 21 ( 1* 2-number--> 1*21 = 21)
23-21 =2, and 2 is less than 11... therefore we have to bring 3rd group an place it behind 2--> 245. With the answer 11 we time it by 2--> 11*2 = 22 now we again look for a number which times with 22 but still less than or equal to 245--> this number must be 1 but can't be 2 because 1* 221 < 245 oke
so the answer with 3 digits will now be 111...
Again subtract 245 from 221 = 24. 24 < 111 From now we don't have 4th group so we must borrow 2 zeroes and and place it behind 24--> 2400. Because we borrow 2 zeroes we must pay back by placing the period behind the 111--> 111.
Now we take 111 and time by 2 ---> 222 and look for a number that times with 222 but still less than or equal to 2400--> this number must be 1 ----> 1* 2221 = 2221. Subtract 2400- 2221 = 179
The answer is now 111.1----> so on.......

huyen thoai .. cam ơn nhiều nhe .. u are a life saver ..
có thể chỉ lại được không .. me chỉ có biết đủ 75% thôi
làm lại một cái nửa nhe .. đơn giản hơn một chút

Example: 8888 oke
88,88 --> sqrt of 88 = 9 ( max number we can get )
take 9 sq = 81. Subtract 88 from 81: 88 - 81 = 7
bring down 2nd group 88 and place behind 7---> 788
take 9 time 2 = 18 and look for a number ( from 0 to 9) that time with 18(number) and be less than or equal to 788 ---> 4:
place 4 behind 18 --> 184. Time 4 with 184 = 736 ( less than 788 oke!)
We now have part of the answer with 94!
take 788-736 = 52 and 52 is less than 94. There for we borrow 2 zeroes to put behind 52-->5200 and place the period behind 94
Take 94 time 2--> 94 * 2 = 188. Look for a number that time with 188 < 5200 ---->this number must be 2
5200 - ( 1882*2) =1436 Again take 2 zeroes to place behind 1436 --> 143600 Oke-->Part of the answer is 94.2
Take 942 time 2 = 1884, look for a number that time with 1884(and number) and still less than 143600---> this number must be 7
143600 - ( 18847 * 7 ) = 11671( this 11671 is less than 18847. In case if is greater than 18847 we must choose 8 instead of 7)--> Answer will be 94.27

because we deal with square root "2" therefore we have to group 2 digits into one group.
If it is cube root "3" then we have to group 3 digits
huyenthoai ... hình như mình hiểu rồi
cam ơn nhiều nhe ......... ;)
hahhahahahahhahahhahahahhahahahha... oop .. sorry .. it is a evil laugh

nice job huyenthoai !
another way to solve is use total differentials, but i'm forgot :D
here is the link to solve cube , 4th, 5th roots . http://mathforum.org/dr.math/faq/faq.sqrt.by.hand.html

You can use other method such as Newton's method.

like me when I was in year 7. I give out the answer in decimal form instead of the simplest form. :15:
