Co ai biet:

I have a bunch of negative developed, but I'm not happy with the pictures from Walmart, Walgreen 1hr. Most ofphoto developed Walmart 1-hr photo are quite satisfied but expensive.

Now:
1. If I buy Photo scanner, which can scan either the photo printout and the film/negative into my PC, use PhotoShop or some photo editor to adjust brightness and color for the picture, save it, burn it to CD-ROM then bring it the the shop for reprint, or print it off the photo printer. I do not like digital camera, only SLR. In general I want to take control of the 2nd half of the processing, which adjust brightness color of the photo since film developed in mass production many times produces quite unhappy result.

Question:
1. Is it a way to do it?
2. Is the picture quality, resolution get degraded when scanning to computer?
3. Is film scanning better or printout scanning better?
4. What is the recommended band? performance vs. cost is to be considered.

Please advise,
HayHoi

Answer:
1)chi? co' 1 ca'ch mo^.t .. la` pha?i scan vo^ ma'y computer truoc ro^`i mo+'i chi? color balance or contrast or what ever you want to do via software such as adobe photoshop etc. ba.n co' the^? ddem ca'i neg. ba.n thi'ch la.i local store where they have scanner and ask them to scan for you with a minimal of cost. of course, with their scanner, the resolution will be higher with negative or slide.

2)yes, it will degraded if you have ugly scanner. a good scanner like i list up there, would do a job for you but not as good as a read neg/slide scanner.

3) Film scanning is better because it is an original source therefore more detail. meanwhile the printout due to paper DPI, the resolution will be low down to 300 dpi already and that will cost your resolution.

4) For this, it is depend on how you want to use your photo. sell it, print it or what. it is all about personal choice and reference.

NguyenQuynh,
Ca'm on rat nhieu for your helpful info. By the way, I bought the Microtek ScanMaker 5900, 2400/4800 photo scanner which is capable of negative scanning as well. This one cost 180 bucks from Fry's, and I'm quite happy with it as far as picture scanning. I'have not had time to try out negative scanning alot; with only one scan and the printout of the tif file (from Walmart 1hr printing show now different from its film-base counterpart. In fact, it's even better with help from Photoshop tough up.

Thanks again and Chu'c Ban mot nam moi tran day hanh phuc.
