Thank you, thank you so much for reply
Especially, you currently have one.

The reason I've asked is: I bought 2 of them, both get returned
First one: Take home

1) Epson advertises printting 4x6 about 54 seconds, it took me almost 6 minutes to get one
2) Shaky like earthquake (no'i ho*i qua' 1 chu't) but basically I just could not focus on the monitor (ta.i vi` no' run nhu* ca^`y)
3) When it printting, it made noise like hell. Here's what I describe
Kịch, kịch, kịch, kịch, kịch (just to load 4x6 paper), ét, sạch, sạch, sạch, ét, sạch, sạch, sạch, ét. That's what it printed, it's true, it made noise like that.
4) Epson advertises to print about 200 4x6 pics then run out of ink, I just printed about 10 and already seen a significant ink level drops. I think it would make only 50 4x6
5) Sometimes, when it load the 4x6 paper to start printing, it misaligment, so the picture print out was warp (me'o)
6) When I print picture directly from the memory stick using the adapter (no PC needed), sometime (most of the time in my case) it ate my memory and basically destroyed all pics. The memory (from Sony) was useless at that point, all pictures were gone, gone. I had to reformat the memory again in order to use it again. Again, all pics were lost.

I believe that there are 2 or 3 more problems (for me) but I already forgot. I printed pics using Kodak Ultima Picture Paper for injet prints - Heaviest Weight - High Gloss.
With the whole problem that I experienced above, I disappointed, I returned the Epson, but in my mind, I still thought that I had done something wrong, or even using the wrong paper, it should be Epson paper only? I don't think Epson introduces to the market such a BAD thing like that. Therefore I went to the store and bought another one.

Second one: Try at store
Note: This time, using Epson paper. There was a guy who worked for that store unpack and do the print for me. Kind of as the demo.

Result: same as I did before. Slow, noisy, and surprise the guy by eating his memory stick too.
I then returned it right at the store.

I'm still looking for a photo printer, Epson demo is awesome, I love it that why I just go for Epson, I really love the output quality, but .....

May I ask that you do have any problem like that or just me and the guy at store? I still don't believe Epson makes that bad, I love to bring home the same unit from Epson, but I'm afraid that I have to go to the same procedure again - return.
Please let me know

I like your post especially the part "Kịch, kịch, kịch, kịch, kịch (just to load 4x6 paper), ét, sạch, sạch, sạch, ét, sạch, sạch, sạch, ét"

I have my 820 . same freaking noise :)

hey guys,

I have an older EPSON Stylus Photo 870. Same print engine across the board. Heres my suggestion:

1. Use Epson photo paper (NOTE: if you must use 3rd party paper ie. Kodak, make sure to use the enclosed instructions to ensure optimal quality)

2. Go into the Advanced (or Custom) and set the resolution to Photo or 1440dpi

3. Uncheck High Speed printing (this disables bi-directional printing and minimizes banding)

4. Uncheck Edge Smoothing (useless feature unless you're printing a lo-res photo from the web)

Yes it would take an extra minute or two (average 4-5 minutes per 4x6in, 10-12 min per 8x10in) but it's well worth the wait. Remember, 7 out of 10 pro users use EPSON. Quality and speed don't go together so dont buy into this speed and high res marketing scheme. Have fun!

Thanks, CVC and Apex , for your input

Well, what can I say???
Um, still love the Epson output quality.

Apex, for your suggestion

1) Yes, I did use Epson paper and Kodak paper, turned out SUCK
2, 3, 4) You mean set those config. on the PC, here, I want to print directly from the printer (without the PC). Result: kill my memory and destroy all pics

About the speed, they advertises for 54 seconds, then it should be 54 or around a minute or so then, cannot be more than 5 minutes (they talked about printting 4x6 photo). In addition, what I see their demo, it was awesome, it was around a minute to print and output quality was just like from the lab.
Very impressive, until I experienced myself at home.

And I believe you that Epson is one of the best photo printer in the market. No doubt about it. I still thinking that I was doing something wrong
