I had the mechanic changed the timing belt within 20k, and now it start to make some rattling noises.
I went to schucks and bought one of the belt dresser, and calm it down a little but that is not a permanent way of doing it since it will come back and haunt me again.
What to do?
Thank you
sell the car and get a new one :D :D

"changed the timing belt within 20k" = about 6 month to 1 year of driving already.
"start to make some rattling noises" = grinding noise maybe
check the water pump could be going out on it by now
I think I have the same problem too. The car need to be warm up like an hour before the noise stop. For the first 2 minutes, the noises are literally unbearable :hammer: . Then there is a gradual decrease of noise. So what should we do to stop this kind of noise? My car is kind of old too. Celica 91 GT. Just replace the timing belt and water pump.
Anyone who have experience with car, please help.

Wowow,
this is more infos than I ever need !!! Thumbs up for U :D
U got a cute little Legend there :)
I suspect the problem is they put in some aftermarket (cheap) belts and they got stretched ... My advice is bring your car back to where they replace the timing belt for U and ask the to re-adjust the belt. U should stand there to watch them and they should not charge U for this.
If they did not replace (or even asked U to replace) the water pump when they changed the timing belt, this is a very bad mechanic shop.
If water pump has not been replaced, it might be the water pump (bearing noise) problem as well. Replacing water pump when replacing timing belt is the best way to go (not much extra labor).
Let me know how it goes!

Coldwind.....okey I asked my brother did that, he took his car to the shop that replaced the timing belt, asked them to re-ajust the belt, you know what they say........it's maybe something else not the timming belt....they need to checkup first....it's will be charge for it......he hear "will be charge for it" , so he don't want to do it.....and he's called me last Saturday and explained to me....so I came there Sunday and look inside the engine....on the right side of the engine....the noise came from there....that is the location of the timming belt....so I look down more, I saw one screw, and I start ajust it by myseft while the engine's runing....after that I smell a buring came out from there...at that time no more noise...maybe because the engine already warmed....and I stop the engine right after that, and now I scare to turn the engine back on again......the car still parked on the front of our house right now.....since Sunday....what am I gonna do now???I need Help A.S.A.P.......thanks alll

Bill,
the shop charges your bro just to look at the car to see where the noise comes from? (after they did the timing belt for your bro) ... this is a big time ripped off shop ... U need to tell them that.
Yes, in the '90 Legend, timing belt (as well as other belts) located in the right side (driver side). It has a timing belt cover (three 10mm nuts). But I think the noise problem from the belts should be simple. If U live in my city, I can do for U "no charge" ... hehe.
Back to your problem, I'm not sure what screw U found and adjusted. U might do something wrong (I don't know b/c I can't see). But the reason I was suggesting U to bring the car back to the shop is for them to re-adjust the belts (besides timing belt).
I'm talking about:
1) Alternator belt
2) power steeriing belt
3) AC belt
It does not take much time to adjust this belt.
The burning smell may come from the belt touching something.
What kinda smell? is that like rubber burn?
Unless the noise problem comes from something else?
Keep me posted !

If it's a rubber burn smell, it means one of your belts is touching something (a pulley maybe).
Yea, I live in Houston, Tx
What city r U in? ... I heard that Cali mechanic shops like to charge people for everything ... greedy bastards huh? :D
