If your relay terminal lists: 30, 85, 86, 87 then:

30 connects to 12 volts source (the battery). If you can put a 15amp fuse between the battery & the relay
85 connects to good source of ground, the body chassic
86 connects to a switch
87 connect to the lights

Good luck,

if i were u..
get an inline fuse between ur 12volt source and ur + at the light..
also make a switch..

but if i were REALLY you..i would forget about neon lights totally..
it does nothing but attract unwanted attention and you have people call you a ricer..

Yes, buy a toggle switch and connect one end of the switch to 86 terminal, and the other end to a "key on" power source (not the battery) such as running daylights or anything that has 12v power when the engine is running.

if you don't need a switch, just connect to a "key on" power source, I recommend a switch so you can control when it on/off.

In a car, there are some place in which there's always have power. For example: the cigarett lighter.
"key on" power source mean there's power only when you turn on your ignition key. For example, your radio does not have power before you turn the ignition key on. The headlight does not have power until you turn on the headlight switch (something like that...) The idea is to control when your light is on/off. If you connect the switch (86) directly to the battery and forget to turn it off, the the light will be ON all the time.

That's why you need to connect it to a "key on" power source in case you forget. Turn off the engine will also turn off the light for you.

oh yeah i did that hahah thank you very much.....answer me only if u have time resque2 ok because i know that these tediouse ques can be very annoying hehe...ok so if i want to connect it to the switch but up in the diagram u have it only have one wire conected to the 86 connection which is the pink one and it connect to the swith and the blue one connect to the switch, so the other end of the blue conect to the lites??? oh so the other end of the lites go directly to the battery?? so for example the + is a blue wire so the - wire of the lites goes to the - of the car battery????  sorry about these question b4 my uncle do these stuff for me so i never bother to look how it was done...

No, the blue/white wire coming out of the other end of the switch is connect to a "key on" power source.

The relay needs 2 powers source: the 1st one (battery) will supply the power to light up the lights, the 2nd one (assume the power supply to the headlights) will determine when to turn the relay ON or OFF using Electromagnet inside the relay. Here's the explanation how a rely work:

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/relay1.htm

Back to the blue/white wire comming out of the switch. I recommend you connect that wire to the headlight's wire. It will work like this:
when the headlights is ON, but the neon lights switch is OFF, the neon will be OFF
when the headlights is ON, and the neon lights switch is ON, the neon will be ON
when the headlights is OFF, and the neon lights switch is ON, the neon will be OFF (because there's no power to turn the relay on)

The advantage of the relay is it will shut off your lights and give all the powers to the starter when time need to ignite the engine. Another advantage is that it will almost eliminate all the sparks when you turn on a circuit (because the switching happen inside a vacucum of a relay), and that help to eliminate worn out of the switch.
