Nissan Maxima is flagship of Nissan in N. America of course it good Bluerain, in Japan Maxima is known as Bluebird. This car is more luxury than Camry, but Maxima might have some electrical problems on it. That what i heard from friends, but i have never encounter the that problem on my brother car. If you bought your Camry new, than keep it. The Maxima is high on milelage, well i have second thought on that. Maxima come with abs, four disc brake, moonroof, leather, bose sound system, Ward Magazine 10 best engine, is that help.
Hi bé I3,
The Nissan Maxima is a luxury and more complicated vehicle. For a vehicle that's reliable with low maintenance/repair cost, I would recommend the Camry. Also, the Camry consumes a lot less gas than the Maxima.
If you have more specific question, just ask ok!
Good luck,
Nam

Thank you anh R-34 and anh Nam~
The Nissan looks kind of nice for an older car. They said they paid $513 for the new tires in February. Something like Michelin - pilot...Is this correct??? The car is nice in a way that it has a lot of things...like an alarm system, keyless entry, power driver seat, 6-speaker system and so on. What the heck is alloy wheels? But...my dad doesn't like any other cars besides Toyota and Honda...so I guess we might have a few more look at the Nissan Maxima before I buy anything. I am still a little skeptical because the car went through 2 owners...and the last owner used it for 23,000 miles...So yea...still a little confused. Don't know what to do. Any more advice??? Thanks!!!

Michelin is a good brand of tire, Pilot is just name of that tire which made by Michelin. Only Toyota and Honda? It time to show him what is Nissan, no am not rushing to buy it. Before buy any vehicle the most important thing is to check the transmission, and the engine as you might know. How to tell the transmission is bad, let say you take you that car for a test drive and stop at the traffic light, listen carefully the engine make weird noise such as rumbling, the best way is to bring to it to the shop. Unless you really want this car, don't waste money on it if you don't. Do shop around, there more than a Maxima out there. Alloy Wheel?
http://www.hubcaphaven.com/images/matrix5.JPG not alloy wheel just a hubcap that cover the wheel inside.
http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/front/kaz_kzr/kaz_kzr.jpg see the different between the two?

I owned a 95 maxima, great car, powerful, required premium gas though. Got no problelms so far (73k miles now). He said he paid over 500 bucks for new tires is about right, I paid almost 500 bucks for 4 Good Year tires couple year ago.
What is the mileage and the price?
what is your model CCS GXE, SE, GLE? And it only 73K? so how much it in KM? but it sound low though. Bluerain, i got a good idea for you. Why don't you ask CCS bro here to sell his car to you? :D

Bé I3,
When it's time to choose a car, bé must take a lot of things into consideration. Please don't be just like...ok, I like one or a few things about this car and decide to go for it.
Things should be considered including but not limited to:
1) Your income: project your future income to see what kind of car you can affort. E.g. the Maxima is nice with lots of extra stuffs on it; however, when it's time for maintenance/repair, it will cost you a lot more compare to less say, a Camry or Accord, or even Civic or Corolla.
2) Your need: whether you need a family car with lots of room or a sport car that has some kind of perfomace pursuit; or just a mean of transportation that brings you from point A to point B.
3) How often you drive it: think about the type of driving you do most often, Hwy or city...most of larger engine cars get realatively good MPG on Hwy but very poor on city...small engine car has better MGP (gas) on city driving.
4) How long you are going to keep the car: Think about the resale values, a typical luxury car usually has low resale values than a normal typical sedan despite the fact that a luxury car cost a lot more when new. (the lost or depreciation)
IMOH, a higher mileage Maxima will likely give you more problem in the future...and it costs a lot to fix compare to other cars such as Camry/Accord/Civic/Corolla. But it depends on your income and your taste. Get the car that you like...since you will be stick with it for a while.
Besure to apply all your energy and time with knowledge when dealing with the saleman...don't be afraid to ask for the price that you think resonable and do stick with it. The day before yesterday, I was able to bring down almost 1/3 cost of the vehicle that I want (from $18850 to $14000) after lot of sweat and time.
Good luck

Cam' o*n anh nhe'...Is it okay to call you anh??? Kho^ng bie^t' la` anh hay la` chu' nu*a? hihihi...Yes...I don't think I'm going to get the Maxima because of the high milage and the cost of future maintenace and such. I thought about buying a new Civic, since it doesn't cost too much to buy and it seems like a very reliable car for future use. I like the Civic, but the two door is kind of small to me. Em kho^ng bie^t' gi` ma^y' ve^` chuye^n. like the inside stuff, I only notice the body and the good stuff. My friend said check the hood and see if the used car has gotten into an accident...how do you check that??? But your advice is very good anh Nam...
(1) Yes I can afford a car
(2) Thought about it...I don't need it too much, but my little brother is learning to drive...thought I'd pass down my car =D
(3) Drive it to work and to school...both like a lot...city
(4) Cha(c' keep the car until my lil sis knows how to drive =D Then pass that down
=D Sao...Civic is what I'm looking for now...thanks!

Base on what you said I think the Civic is what you need. Try to get a 99-00 2-door EX model, those are sweet little car, got V-Tech, very reliable and good on gas plus it never looks out-dated (lỗi thời). I used to owned a 93 civic DX long ago when I was in college, the car had almost 176000 miles on it with no major problems (of course you have to change oil/tire/brake/battery...when needed) until my little sister totaled it couple years a go.
With the EX model you will have V-tech (more responsive engine), power windows/locks, power sunroof, CD play (you can also get a better after market one), ABS brake.

Bé I3, gọi Nam bằng cụ luôn cũng đuợc...giỡn thôi chứ Nam chẳng lớn hơn bé I3 nhiều đâu hahahah!
It sounds like the Civic will be a perfect fit for you. If shopping for a quality used car, it takes some experience. Just pay attention to the hood and door gaps and see if they are proportional...there are much more too look. Then engine and transmission too as bro. R-34 mentioned.
If you go for a new Civic...then nothing to worry, just deal with the salesman to get the best price. Please keep in mind, there might be a few thousands difference for the exact same car at different dealers so it pays to shop around and argue the best price possible.
Good luck,
Nam

Hmm, about the V-TECH, I am not sure if it's needed unless you want to do street racing. With the V-Tech, you can't really tell the different until it kicks to let's say 5500 rpm. For normal driving, you rarely rev. that high. Additionally, the Civic Si (V-Tech) got about 25MPG or so compare to non-Vtech engines which gives about 35+ MPG.
Oh well, JM2C and something for potential car shoppers to keep in mind.

How much is the price of a civic? and what are the differences between the models? Civic seems to be the perfect car for students.

Umm...hôm qua đi coi xe . Em thấy chiếc SOLARA củng cute quá . Xe nầy có tốt không . Vì daddy nói là nên mua xe Toyota . Vì gia đình I3luerain have always driven Toyota . What do you think about the Solara???
Solora is Camry in two door, but build in US. Want to hear something? I have a friend currently live in US, and yesterday he went to the dealer to check out cars for his friend. One of his friend like the Avalon (Pronard) 95, the ride is not good the engine feel weak. And they jump on the 96 Camry the higher had more millages than Avalon, but it do the opposite of the Avalon does. And he is a big fan of Toyota, the VIN said on Avalon is 4 and Camry is J, you see my picture. If you look for Japanese cars, no matter what look at the VIN first and then go on from there. Unless you don't want quality. For the college student and non working, Civic is good.

THANKS A BUNCH!!! I think I will get the CIVIC...Thanks again!
Bé I3,
Basically, the early Solara is exactly the V6 Camry except the body style. I belive that the later models of Solara has 4-Clyd. option. So Honda Civic is still a preferable choice huh?
Good luck,

I3: Honda Civc is rated the lowest maintenance on intitial 5-yr. of ownership by some independent agencies that I read on MSN Carpoint a while a go. Additionally, it delivers exceptional gas per miledge. I think it's a perfect mean of transporation for students.
Good luck, and if you have any question, we will be more than happy to assist you.

One last little tidbit for I3 -- you should also check out websites such as Edmunds.com for more info to help you pick the right car for you and find out its market value and negotiate the final price, etc. . . Happy hunting!!! :)
Best wishes,

CCS is right, if I am on the market for a new Civic, I definitely get the hybrid...it looks a lot nicer and you are proud that you are driving a new technology which won't hurt your wallet and more enviroment friendly.
