Mazda develops new impact-absorbing aluminum hood
Apr. 2 HIROSHIMA, Japan - Mazda Motor Corp. said April 2 it has developed a ''shock cone aluminum hood'' (ih handout photo) with an impact-absorbing structure aimed at enhancing pedestrian protection. Compared with conventional framed aluminum hoods, the new structure has the potential to significantly reduce the severity of head injuries that can result when a pedestrian is struck by a car, the carmaker said.
