Win2k and Win98 come from totally diferent lineage with completely different kernel. Win2k comprises of purely 32-bit architecture while Win98 is a hybid of the both 16 and 32 bit. 16-bit applications executed under Win2k is operated in a emulated environment. Another different is the capability disparity. Win2K can handle more memory and storage space more efficiently than its sibbling.
