My favorite site is Photo.net, you can create an account for free, post your pictures, have it critiqued or critique others, rate photos, and feedback. It's a great site to look at pictures. They do have pointers on photography.

My favorite magazines that are more informative than advertising, are the british photography magazines, the americans one seem to have too many ads and not enough pictures and technique. A bit pricey for overseas subscription but they are well worth it!
