I have Sony mp3. When I start the engine of the car, my stereo will cut and come back right after that but my stereo also do it when turn off the engine(The power use stereo still on.) Is this normal with Sony? I did put my Panasonic back and the Panasonic stereo only cut off when the engine start but turn off the engine. Please give me advise or opinion about this. Thank you.

What type of adapter or harness did you use for the Sony Receiver? You might have to change to the one fitted specifically for Sony since the wires layout might be different than the Panasonic. Just my 2 cents.

Thank for your answer. I used no adapter or harness because when I went to buy they out of stock. I connected directly.
Huh.. 2 cents for your time.....
Thank again...

hey bro,

it is normal that "When I start the engine of the car, my stereo will cut and come back right after that "

however, I don't quite understand you about "the power still on"

what will happen if you take your key out ?
is it still on?

if it does, check the red and yellow wires of your SONY deck.

RED = ignition (has positive power 12v when your key turns to state II and off when you turn your key to stateI and/or take the key out :D)
Yellow = always on (direct to 12v positive)

I hope this help

Right on CVC!

Exception: While working on the installation of the 12-disc MP3 Changer last weekend, I found that my 4runner's stereo doesn't have what you called the "red wire" which means it has power when the ignition is on. I ended up hook it to the "cirgaret" lighter! :D works for me! I think it's controled by the external amp with a very small signals...I am not sure how it works.

Thank convitcon and Nam.
"the power still on" What I mean is listening the radio or play cd without start the engine. Yes Red on Igniton and Yellow is memory and always have 12 v no matter key on or not.
I will check the current voltage soon because I haven't check it and it may be the problem.
Thank you very much and appreciate your help and opion.
