there no regulation issues on buying the JDM engine at all. If you had the money you could buying anywhere. It could be available where ever you live.

it depends on which series of motor. For example, the K20A series motor, which is on the RSX, SI, TSX, has different CAM and more..too much to list. The power they produced is almost the same, but Type R always pulled out on top.

That true, but majority of the engine is a lot stronger than USDM. They have like a few more, probably 7 or 8 more hp. However there is some engine produce the same amount HP, but a lot higher on torque.

so, is it legal to put a jdm engine into a japanese car in US? for example, putting a jdm type r into a integra ls. by legal, i mean if a cop ask you to pop your hood, you won't end up getting a ticket for it. if it's not legal, what are some way to legalize it?

I am not sure, can only replace engine will same year or new and meet smog requirement. Also the car must register at the offical somg station. The official will place an offical sticker under the hood.
most engines form Japan have lower mileage somewhere 45k because of space and enviroment. Rich people drive them. The some engines produce higher power output than north american engine. It is more finer, more efficent. Ex. the air intake might be bigger.
