i need a suggestion malfunction indicator lamp..

i have my '97 honda accord lx yesturday when i start my engine this orange light "malfunction indicator lamp" came up and it shows CHECK so what is wrong here can anyone help me out and how to solve this problem to make this orange light disappear.
so what wrong with it and its fixable?
btw what is "malfunction indicator lamp" mean and why it shows on and what does is the function of it

could be a million things. You need a code scanner (about $35) to scan it, or bring it to a shop to have it scanned

you can reset it buy unplug the battery cable or just bring it in for a diagnostic

i did unplugged it to rest it but the light still on, so is there is there any other idea beside bring it to dianostic magine?

well its hard to say when u just look at it. It could be anything, different codes but the best is diagnostic where do you live i got snap on diagnostic i could help u if ur from bay area other that the best way is to diagnos it.
