Question about power antena

My antena can go up all the way but when I turn off radio, it only goes down about 2/3 so I can't open the trunk (when it goes down, it make noise like the motor tries to pull it down but it only goes down like 2/3 and stop). I dropped some W-D40, but it doesn't help. Anybody know how to fix this problem, please help. My car is Accord 91 EX. Thank in advance.

Do you know how to take the antena out? if you do then take it out and play with it check to see is there something wrong inside the middle or else just replace with a new antena.

Is it hard to take it out since I haven't done that before? I'll try next week. Thank you for your input.:)

it sounds like it has lost some teéth at the midle of the plastic rod !
go to dealer shop and buy parts to rebuild the antena . (much cheaper than buying the whole unit)

Usually what happen is the antenna tube end up with the bottom sleeve of the antenna mast stuck/break inside the tube. Most of the time you can get away with just new mast if you can get the old sleeve out of the tube, if not, you would need a new tube as well. Both piece are cheap to buy when compared to buying a new assembly. Easy to fix.
