speeding ticket in CA

Hello,
Just got a speeding ticket 45 in a 30 mph area. There is no money in the ticket, but a Traffic court check box is checked.

Any one in CA know how much will it be? this is the first time that i get a ticket in CA. and do I have to call the court or they will mail to me house the real ticket with money on it :-)

What are the success rate of winning in the court in SJ, CA? I heard that it's very hard to win in CA with the accurate speed trap of Laser

Your wining is very slim. Call the up the court let them know you can't make it that day and tell them you want it another day. < You can do it like 3 times i guess >. Wait for the cop not to show up, you win the case.


Or you can pay for fine and tell them you want take home traffic, so you don't have to go to traffic school :D

Wow, I didn't know the law in CA are that strict. I thought when u get a ticket, u only have to pay for it. I hope my state doesn't make people go to traffic school when they get ticket. I haven't get a ticket in 4 years, so I dont' know if the rules has been change. When I got my first ticket, 43 on 25, I just have to pay $115 for the ticket and go home. wow.. CA law sure is strict.... here in WA, speeding ticket charge $117 (just increased), but if you just show up in court... you'll only have to pay 1/2 of the amount, and if you get lucky... if the judge is happy on that day... he/she wouldn't put ur name in record, of course if that's the first time... sometimes when it is your first time and you had a good record... they wouldn't even charge you or anything... just warn you or maybe put you on for a probation that's it....

If you want to fight this, go to court, and plead you want a court date, ask the lawyer to see the officer training record on the Laser. If there was a lots of traffic on the day of the offensive, the chance that you will winl is higher, cause the faction of error of the officer is high due to the fact that even a small movment will cause the reading to be off, and it would have took a reading of a other car.

If this is your first offense, go to class, and have no point on your DMV record.

You don't need to go to traffic school in CA. You have to go only if you don't want your insurance company knows about it.

You can just pay the fine and get over it...If you're not CA resident, then just pay the fine since they will not record to your state driving record.

Well winning a court case is too much hasssle...u will spend a lot of time and effort for it. I just got a $100 tix (drove 80 mph over a 55mph working construction zone)...i just paid the tix instead of going fighting for it....if u go for court, good luck!!!!

FYI, CA does share information with other 37 states which I do not know which one. But for the first ticket, Just pay the fee and get it over with, you do not need to go to traffic school since it is only your first time. But if you worry about it too much, then go to traffic school. They do have online traffic school for you to study and answer questions

Don't worry too much, you will get an other bill with money on it. It shows you 2 prices: 1 price for paying without go to traffic school (cheaper about $10) and the other price for with traffic school. Then you have to go to register for traffic school and pay another fee for this about $35.
Fine for over speed that I got was $240, but I went to court, and then they reduced to $162. For this price you have no choice about traffic school or not, you must go. My speed was 62 in 45 zone.

oh man, poor californian!!! in my state. we have ticket clinic. you pay 69 buck,(no matter what violations: over speed, ran red light...etc..) they go to court and fight for you. you have no point on your record either!!! cops in florida have to go to court on their own time and they only get pay $25 so most of them never show up, and if they don't come, you win!!!

Ok ... a long waited ticked has arrived .. and I have to pay $136.00 (i select to pay this amaount because I want to attend a traffic school) or 122.00 if not.

Californian guys... :-) i made a check of 136.00.... how long will they send me the traffic school information ...? or what?

Of course they release you in 24 hours if they have nothing against you ( mostly they will find something ). I got locked up just because the cop thought I drank too much even though I did drank too much water ( no alchohol ) hehehehehe .

what do you mean 69 buck for everything?? I was hit with a $205 ticket last week on I-75.
