The third generation Lexus GS430 has won an Auto Trophy award in Germany, ahead of its launch early next year.
Readers of the 216,000 circulation Auto Zeitung have awarded the vehicle the best imported luxury car Auto Trophy.
The Lexus GS430’s design is making a serious impact in the home country of its major rivals.
The only exposure the new model has had in Germany are advance images published in the motoring media.
Markus Schrick, Managing Director of Lexus in Germany, acknowledged the coveted prize at a Gala presentation in Berlin.
"The GS is the first model following the introduction of the new Lexus design philosophy. I am pleased that just a few visual impressions were enough to convince so many expert readers of Auto Zeitung," he said.
Meanwhile, as the still unlaunched Lexus GS430 takes out accolades in the home of its European luxury rivals, the marque has also claimed the top award in JD Power’s latest APEAL (Automotive, Performance Execution and Layout) survey.
This is the fourth year running Lexus has claimed the number one APEAL award.
The Lexus LX470 claimed the Premium Luxury SUV award, while RX330 luxury SUV was also voted the most appealing Entry Luxury SUV for the second consecutive year.
The LS430, SC430 and IS300 also performed strongly in their respective classes.
This award is judged by over 103,000 new car owners, on vehicle performance and design; engine/transmission; ride, handling and braking; comfort/convenience; seats; cockpit/instrument panel; heating, ventilation and cooling; sound system; and styling.
