Bông hồng chỉ nhìn đẹp trong 3 tháng mùa Xuân thôi . Bây giờ sắp Hè rùi, the weather is almost 95 degrees , most of the petals are wilting right now. Good thing I took those pictures.
The roses won't bloom as pretty until late Sept-Nov, when the weather will cool down once again.

Cũng phải bó nhiều thì giờ ra cho high maintenance mấy cái cây hồng này lắm . Hết bị mildew rồi tới bị aphids , rusts , etc.. HiHiHi.... that's why you always hear me complaining that I don't have enough time... BTW, ca'i "Purple striped" rose bush is in its natural color, no touch up by Ulead photoexpress. It's a new hybrid from Jackson Perkins, they came out with this Purple Tiger Rose, and it won a medal from ARS 3 years ago.

Cai hinh #1 favorite out of this whole series do' ha? --Cai hinh with the Vase do'. Cai do' chup ra^'t la` simple, but I used some Artistic feature under Ulead photoexpress, and add some charcoal in the background, so it looks almost like a painting. The vase is handmade , BTW by my 4 yr old son, in his art class, he used dyed sand and glued it around the beer bottle, and voila`, it became a blue vase.

Bo^ng ho^`ng ne^'u kho^ng quen tro^`ng thi` se~ kho' , but after the first year or so, when the root systems began to develop, it's not so bad. T. kho^ng co' tro^ng trong cha^u--because of the same reason--forget to water them on hot days. We put all the roses and trees down directly underground, using sprinkler systems, we can set the timers on each zone, because depending on the sunny location--some trees require more or less water during the day, so that way, they don't get underwatered or overwatered. The lawns typically love lots of water, but if you grow roses next to them, they will die because roses don't like that much water.
There are lots of books that you can buy on Amazon.com, some of the good ones are Sunset Magazine , Ortho, just do a search under landscape or roses, and you can find a whole bunch or you can always buy them at most bookstore or Home Depot too. I just don't have time to shop so I do all my shopping online.
The instructions for rose care are very clear, step by step, how to prune, when to grow, etc...very good instructions... I highly recommend these books to anyone who likes to try .

Yes these are self taken pictures, late April-early May. All the roses are grown in my backyard.
I took the basic pictures, put in Ulead Photoexpress, and put some spins on them to give them
some wild effects.

lyly giỏi thật đó....lặn lội tìm rồi lôi ra post lên...:)
sm trước thích hoa hồng lắm, nhưng dạo này bị gai đâm nhiều quá rồi nên thấy sợ rồi ...cây mới trồng, gốc cũ không có, cây trồng lâu, chồi mới mọc, gốc cũ còn quá trời gai luôn ...còn cái loại nở theo chùm , gọi là tường vi hay hoa hồng hoang, ( không nhớ chính xác lắm ) thì mỗi năm chỉ nở 1 lần vào dịp bắt đầu vào hè, hoa tàn rồi không mọc hoa nữa, sm có một cây như vậy lẫn vào mấy cây hoa sm trồng...đang định đào gốc lên bỏ đi mà chưa có thời giờ :) thanks lyly cho post lại tấm hình cũ....:)
