HANOI --(Asia Pulse)-- Vietnam's rubber industry is
striving to export 400,000 tonnes of rubber worth US$600
million this year, according to the Vietnam Rubber
Association. The Vietnam Rubber Corp. alone aims to
contribute around 290,000 tonnes, 30,000 tonnes more than
last year's figure.
To that end, the corporation plans to launch more trade
promotion programmes overseas to advertise its products in
new markets. It has opened representative offices in New
York, Moscow, Nanning, China, and Kiev (Ukraine). At
present, Vietnam's rubber has been sold to 46 countries.
Since early this year, Vietnams rubber has fetched high
prices in the US and South Korea. Rubber shipments to China
are also on the rise, as more than 200 tonnes have been
shipped each day in January. China is buying up to 42
percent of Vietnam's rubber export volume.
