Cái play #1 sounds like Oedipus.
Ok, I'm sure it's Oedipus. Oedipus is the son of Laius and Jocata, King and Queen of Thebes--hahaha--Greek mythology 101 again!!
Laius was warned by prophecy that he would one day be killed by his own son. Determined to change his faith, he took the new born baby, bound his feed and left him in the mountain to die. But the child was saved by a Shepherd. The shepherd named the baby Oedipus--meaning "swollen foot", because of the rope binding created inflammation on his feet.
Later Oedipus came back, later killed his own father unknowingly, and solved the riddle given by the sphinx, and as a reward, got married to the queen. Years later he found out he was married to his own mother, and killed his father, he took his eyes out.
Thus the psychological modern day term"Oedipus Complex " derived from this. It applies to any grown man who is too much influenced and admired with the mother, that they can not love any other woman in their life.
oh, BTW, author of the play is Sophocles---Master of Greek tragedies and plays of all time.

Now other plays: ?
Wow ShyGirl is stepping up on the difficulty notch ru`i. Plays are not my strong points. Let me muse on it some more, and I will get back to you.

Ok, I'm back . It has been so long, and like I said, plays some how don't register too well in my memories but here it is:

Play #4 is " The Glass Menagerie" by Sir Tensessee Williams.
This is a wonderful play because it has many symbolic meanings in it. Laura is the main character with a limp. She collects many glass figurines, among them, her most treasured one is the Glass Unicorn. In symbollic terms, Laura is associated with the glass unicorn that she collected because the Unicorn is different than the rest of the horses because of its protruding horn. She is different from the rest of the people because of her limp.

Tom is the big brother. He feels the burden of support the mother & sister, and often associates himself with fire-, movies, - symbol of freedom, and escapism.
Amanda is the name of the mother.
Jim is the friend that was introduced to Laura. Laura in the end slow danced with Jim , and handed over the unicorn that she loved the most. He broke it, the horn came off-- symbolizing the broken love she had for him --because at this point, he finally revealed that he was already being engaged to someone else.

Even though the unicorn was broken, but Laura was not sad, she was somewhat relief because now, symbollicly she can become normal like every one else.

Ok!! 2 down, 3 to go !!!:D

Cái play # 3 , T. cần thêm vài chi tiết nữa . I need to know what time frame the war is in , approx. 400 B.C- 500 B.C or 800 B.C or later, etc...
As far as I know there are only few Grecian Wars that involved women, the Spartan War, the Trojan War in which it involved the famous Helen of Troj, and then there was a group of women
warriors called Amazons. But the Amazons were active warriors themselves, they did not sit home passively like your descriptions.

Play được viết do playwright Aristophanes. Cũng nổi tiếng như ông Sophocles. Play about the Spartan and the Lacemedonian wars.

Greek plays thi` T. đọc ít lắm . Chỉ đọc qua bộ trilogy cua Sophocles regarding Oedipus, Antigone, and co' đọc qua 1, 2 cái play của Euclides tho^i. T. chi? biết nhiều hơn về Greek Mythology and History itself from the Olympus time down to the passing of Roman, and the fall of Roman Empire. Co`n play thi` biết ít lắm !!:D :p

This is a sideline question, since we talked about " Oedipus Complex" , there is a complete opposite version for the woman-- Could anybody name it ?
Hint--She tried to kill her own mother because she believed that her mother was no good for her father. This is the ______ Complex !!!
If you read about Oedipus or took Psychology 101, you should know this complex by heart !!
:D :p

Ready?
Play # 5 - A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, (one of the first few African American playwrights.)

The setting is in a Harlem neighborhood in the '50 with the father Big Walter died because of being overworked. The mother Lena inherited a $10,000 lumpsump insurance. The family members all have different ideas of what they want to use the money for.
Walter Lee-older son , wanted to buy a liquor store, so he can stop working as a chauffeur for the whites. Beantha- the daughter wanted to use the money for Med. school.
Lena, seeing that she could not please everyone, used some of the money for down payment in the white neighborhood, and gave the rest to Walter Lee. W.L was supposed to invest the money with his friend, but his friend took the money and ran away. Later W.L almost accepted a bribed money from a group of white people in exchange for staying away from their neighborhood. In the end, he chose to keep the family's pride and did not take the money.

This play is important because it made the public aware of the prevalent racisms and increasing tensions & violence between blacks and whites at the time, before the Civil Rights Movement led by Martin Luther King.

I skimped to this long long time ago, but did not pick it to do my book report, instead I did the report on "Death of a Salesman."

What you are referring to is called " May -December Romance" or "Summer Winter Romance" meaning the woman is much older than the man because of her age & wisdom.

Ma` sao nike247 co' kinh nghiệm dữ vây ? Chắc đã từng date wa mấy cô này !!!!:D:p

Ok, to start off, anh HanPhong try to solve the last one đi, cái về bà Phù Thủy đó :D

T. bị stuck on it . Phù Thủy, Witches, Merlins, etc... thì nhiều lắm, nhưng mà không có time frame làm reference thi` se~ kho^ng đoán được .
