I've been heard that Rockford subs suck dunno. For a best car sound system i'd recommend you to take a look at Boston acoustics (http://www.bostonacoustics.com/) for subs and amps is Kicker.

And about the sub, Infinity is the best brand for me. For the amp you can pick Kicker.

How about Alpine or MTX?

I heard that Alpine is only good with CD player.
MTX is strong but the sound is not as clear as Infinity
