oyota Motor Corp. will put on the Japanese market "Key Integrated Watch," a watch with electronic key function, as a product exclusively designed for Toyota's Japan-only luxury car "Crown" nationwide on October 4, 2005.
Worn on the wrist just like the ordinary watches, it allows the user to unlock the door by simply grabbing the door handle of the driver's or front passenger's seat, and also to lock the door by pushing the lock button provided on the door handle. When in the vehicle, it allows the user to start/stop the engine by just pushing the engine button. Further, by pushing the button provided on the side surface of the watch, the user can remotely lock/unlock the door. In addition, the watch can unlock the door of the luggage room.
For the watch function, battery change is not required since the watch is equipped with a solar cell, although the electronic key needs a lithium battery as a power source. It is priced at ¥42,000 (including tax).
