My 99 Winstar (77,000 miles) stalled early in the morning when the weather was cold. It would be fine after driving for 20-30 minutes. Does anyone know the cause and how to fix it? I replaced the air filter 7 months ago.
I was told that it might be the air sensor was bad!

Where do I locate the air sensor to replace it?

Thank you very much.

I used to have the same problem when I took off the air sensor to install to the short ram air intake. The problem was fixed when I modify a cold air intake with the air sensor. So the person who told you that the air sensor is right. And the air sensor is just behind your air filter.

Phalanx, thanks for your advice. It really helps.

Do I need computerized adjustment for this sensor or do I just swap the new one in?

I think that your Fuel Pump went bad. It's located inside your gas tank so you have to take your gas tank off of your car van it's gonna be pain in the ass tho.

You can just replace a new air sensor. The computer will detect it automatically. But dont throw the old one away because if it does not fix the problem then it is something else. In the case that new air sensor still does not fix your problem, you need to run a diagnostic (check my spelling :)) to figure out which part is not doing right.
Hope it will fix your problem.
About the fuel pumb problem, if your car still running good after 20 mintutes driving it could not be the fuel pump.

It's weird that the problem does not happen everyday. Yesterday it was fine all day long. I think that it's only stalled early in the cold mornings when the moisture was extremely densed. Anyway, I will replace it if the problem resurfaces.

A rebuilt unit: $142 plus the core!
Ford Dealer: $175 plus the core!

Thats right Radeon. My car was just like yours. It's only stalled in the cold weather. It never happen in the summer but during winter it's stalled every time when I start the car.
I know the air sensor is not cheap. You can look up on ebay for better price.
