Need a Teaching Assistant (TA) to assist with a class which will be
teaching from Tuesday, 17 Jan to Saturday, 21 January, 8:40 AM - 6:00
PM, at the University of Maryland. The name of the class is CMST 386,
Internet: An Advanced Guide and is three semester hours. CMST 386 is a
study of advanced applications for the Internet and the World Wide Web.
Focus is on Web page design, including features such as frames,
animation, and cascading style sheets. Dynamic HTML and JavaScript are
introduced. Assignments include publishing a Web page.
To fill out an application and to obtain other information about the
program, including guidelines, qualifications and compensation levels,
go to http://www.umuc.edu/prog/ugp/asp/ . Two of the most important
qualications are:
**Must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
**Must have taken the class (or a similar class) for which you are
assisting and earned a grade of A or B, or must demonstrate professional
experience in the subject.
The last qualication means you must know something about the
Internet---just enough to be a little dangerous. However, the most
important qualifications to me are great interpersonal communication
skills and the ability to get along with people. In addition, I don't
pay you; the university pays you.
After you fill out the application, please e-mail at william@d3di.com
and let me know. I will then contact you. If you are not selected for
this upcoming class, I will consider you for future classes.
As I said, the class is from 8:40 AM - 6:00 PM. However, since I give
most of my lectures in the morning, I normally have my TA arrive for
class at around 1:00 PM, sometimes 2:00 PM. I will also need TAs for
future classes.
