The LS is powered by an all-new highly advanced 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 380 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque. Combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission, a world-first, the LS 460 will travel from zero-to-sixty miles per hour in less than 5.5 seconds. With that level of performance, the new LS achieves an estimated combined city/highway mileage in the mid-20s. Lexus is targeting an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle II (ULEV II) rating for the LS 460.
The new LS is built on a sophisticated platform that maintains a delicate balance between ride comfort and responsive handling. The completely redesigned multilink suspension system includes an electronic power steering system and a next-generation Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system.

VDIM is an advanced stability system that integrates and manages a new Electronically Controlled Brake (ECB) system, Electronic Power Steering (EPS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Antilock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and engine torque via the electronically controlled throttle.

Monitoring a variety of sensors, the system is designed to anticipate the onset of a vehicle skid or slide and then help correct the situation with a combination of braking, throttle and steering control in a way that is essentially transparent to the driver. Data is gathered from more sources and processed earlier and faster than in previous designs, helping to make VDIM less obtrusive and even more effective.

Luxury, Redefined by Lexus

Intelligent technology and emotionally evocative design is clearly evident throughout the beautifully appointed cabin of the new LS sedans. Extra luxury and comfort touches include a heated steering wheel and seats swathed in one of four tones of semi-aniline leathers matched to one of three coordinating wood-grain trims.

Rear occupants can relax and enjoy power reclining seats equipped with power leg rests and even a massage feature. The new LS even offers body-heat sensors that help maintain the perfect temperature for all occupants. A fold-away table matched to the interior wood grain provides ample work space for rear passengers. The LS also features a nine-inch headliner-mounted rear-screen monitor along with an all-new 19-speaker Mark Levinson® audio system that provides a true theater-level entertainment experience. Additional luxury convenience features include a power rear-door closer and an automatic-powered opening/closing trunk lid.

haha, so lets compare. the gx470 has everything that the lx470 has but only difference is that the lx470 is a lil bit more room and is much uglier. So do the math, alann, would u want to pay 50k for the gx470 or 70 for lx470 with just a lil bit more room? and if you look at the two, i'm pretty sure the gx470 would be much more appealing.

No man, you're seriously wrong. LX 470 is built w/more sophiticate electronics equipments than GX, not just a little big more room. And...by Lexus speculation, GX is an upscale of 4runner and 4runner is cheaper than LX (The GX 470 shares its basic five-door body shell with the Toyota 4Runner - from Lexus webpage), So why don't you just get 4runner? Oh...the name brand ...big ego, feel like luxury (believe it, I have the same feeling). I did my research and drove quite numbers of lux. So, put all those together, I conclude I prefer price tag 1st, then confort, then name brand comes after.

I agree that I like exterior design of LX than GX. Well, riding a bad name does not upscale the man's ego. The name has it all .... kekekek.

I never wrote "the same engine" in both models of 4runner and LX470. The only 2 models have the same engine are Highlander Limited 2005 and RX 330 2005. That's why I prefer Highlander Limited over RX330.

-- Bro, you should read more about Lexus Engine (or Toyota) and its computerized & electronics systems. I would say, IF they have the same engines, same electronics gizmos but different in body designs, it's not worth spending on lux models, simply because ...it's just a box different !!

If you do a serious research on cars (on every Euro Lux), every Lux has different designs in Engineering, Electronics system and body. That makes them different and classy. I buy that.

You're not just paying for the engine. compare the two interior and lexus would own them. Eventhough they are originate from the same family, lexus has the better quality. different box doesn't mean it has the same interior. Different matterials cost differently.

You're absolutely right. Besides the box, electronic gizmos (Toyota's Mark Levinton system is ...different from Lexus' Mark Levinton? GPS system? I doubt that) and ash tray :laugh:, said, leather seats or carpet is so "different" in quality that you have to waste thousand of dollars? (ok, you're rich, I pass). Wood Laminate Panels is different? I doubt it too. Many optional equipments (from the same company) are NOT different.

The different is the interior room design and more optional equipment included (that of course, you have to pay higher price). For God's sake, because of the Luxury Name, they have to be made different from other models.

Dont' be offended. If money is no matter, you choose the right one.

So alann, what you're saying is that the premium audio system in toyota is a mark levingston that is just not branded? So untrue, the best that you can get from toyota is a jbl. Sound quality is totaly different. I received 2nd place with a sound competition during the 2005 at nopi with the hardest hitting factory system. No toyotas even placed. haha, wood in toyotas are fake. A good fake quality as i'll say, but wood in lexus, no matter how low of a quality u said a cheap lexus, it'll have the genuine wood. I love Mercedez, but the name of the company is going down heal. they putting their transmissions and stuff in domestic cars. A big no no. A friend of mine has a dodge dakoda that has a mercedez ben engine in it. at first when he told me i refused and argued that it would be imposible unless he did a swap of some sort. He showed it to me and it came factory and everything. Degrades the value of the company name. As you can notice, i have not bash the quality interior and exterior of mercedez. Excellant quality.
