For 2003-2004, the Corolla is better
1) Look: Corolla has newer body style - cool looking.
2) Price: Corolla is little cheaper too (14K vs 15K)
3) Quality: both are good, too early to tell which one is better

In my opion, Toyota Corolla is better than Honda Civic, but it cost too much. I had Toyota, Honda, Nissan and they r all last a long time but Nissan is a lot cheaper and easier to deal w/, so from now on i'll stay w/ Nissan. Go to : www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com to do a research on cars and the prices for it, print those out and send out bids to dealers, deal w/ them by email first, then go to the show room to sign paper, do not pay anything extra like advertise fee, or some kind of document fees..., and state to them exact the options u like, tell them that any dealer add ons are free, otherwise they will screw u good in the end of a deal. When go to dealer stay firm do not let them swing u any direction, be nice but stay firm, they need your business and don't let them tell u that price u want is below invoice, they don't make any profits....., tell them it'd be a cash deal and after the final price and u have good credit tell them about financial terms they offer, most of them offer real low now almost to 0%, and do not buy any extra warranty because u never need them, nothing can go wrong w/ those and beside u have lemon law covers for u. The good deal would be the total kbb.com's invoice price w/ all options u want - $3000=the price u pay + ttl. PM if u like Nissan or Toyota, i can show a good deal especially Nissan at atleast $2000 under invoice for any Nissan beside 350Z and Murano. Hope it help and good luck.

thank y'all

i found a honda civic lx 2003 4drs sedan for $15,500. it's a little over at one of the site above. however, now i can't pay for it. i don't qualify for any loan because i have no credit history. i talked with a dealer: i have to down $10,000, and pay $2000 in financing on top of everything. god, stupid credit thing.

About the credit, there are few ways U can do if U do not have a credit history (assuming U do not have bad credit and U have a J-O-B):
1) go to www.lendingtree.com and apply there ... this one will put your application out and many banks try to compete to get your business
2) Have your dad/mom/bro/sis cosign the loan for U (U are still the main borrower).

15,500 is little more than Civic Lx should be (15K) !!!

Sounds good but a little confusing... Do we have a choice whether or not to pay advertising fee? You meant go to the dealer that won't change anything?

1) don't come to the dealer with a confusing mind (just like an old saying "chưa ra chiến trường mà sợ sệt thì coi như thua hết một nửa")
All (or most) dealers like to add stuffs on but U do not have to buy that, they might give U some BS excuse that all their cars like that but hey, they can always get U a car from the manufacture.
Unless U need a car bad, do not want to hustle, or like those add-on features, don't fall for those craps.

2) They love to give U a finance. It's another way to "screw" U.
To be honest, with big dealers, they do not do any monkey business (trốn thuế), so cash means nothing. But they love to rip people off as much as they can.

I'm recently looking for a new honda civic. 2003 civic is really really good looking w/ body kit. To me, civic is better for young male driver, and corolla is for female driver. :-) . By the way, 30 gpm for local and 38 mpg for highway. that's great.

NOT TRUE !!!

To be honest, Civic (Honda in general) are made for Asian drivers (preferrably females) b/c it's little small, soft handling ...

The reason U say or think Civic is for male driver b/c there are so many aftermarket parts for Civic (compared to Corolla) to add on to make it look like a "MUSCLE CAR" and U prolly saw those Civic on the streets (as well as in the movies like Fast and Fury)

personally...i would NEVER pay 15k for a civic nor a corolla...
prices on those cars depreciate too much...
for the money...u rather get a used 00 or 01 honda accord fully loaded...

if you plan to use it until the engine die, til u hit 200K+ miles then buy the corolla. it looks better than civic thanks to the lexus wanna be make over.

the good:
good gas mileage
compact
reliable
cheap insurance

the bad:
even with the sport version, it's still a corolla. Not a sport car.
Like Playboi said, resell value sucks on these

If you plan to use it for a few years then sell it to get a new car then buy the Accord, or Carmry.

DO NOT buy the car on the spot, no matter how good the deal is. Take the paper work, go home, ... cool down then read everything, verify the price, ask around. Then come back the next day WITH A FRIEND (that knows about money stuff). DEALERS ARE TRICKY... even when you finalize your deal and pay for you car. THEY WILL try to get you to finance, buy extended waranty, buy finance insurance (<~yeah insurance to get finace, aint it suck?)

DO NOT BUY ... extended waranty... all worthless in my opinion.

Research the law in your state first. WATCH WHAT YOU SIGN. This is why it's a must to have 2 or 3 pair of eyes looking at the paperwork.....!!!!!!!!
