Maxima vs Camry

I'm in the market of buying a new car for my wife. I have test dry Altima, Highlander, Camry, & Maxima. I narrow to 2 car: Maxima vs Camry. Highlander are nice but the engine tooo noisy, and the altima naaaahhh. I know Camry have a good reputation. I was wondering about Maxima. Are there any issue for this car? vs with Camry.

Thanks for your opinion.

Wait a min ... r U talking about a brand new Camry V6XLE vs Maxima SE?
If U're looking at Camry LE (4 cyl), it's not a comparison

Independent rating between Maxima vs. Camry
For Specs, Auto Safety and Crash test
8.8 vs. 8.7

About Maxima

GLE line of Maxi

GLE is comparable to the V6 camry with limited options
price started at $25,810.
SE costs slightly more but everything elses come with it .

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About Camry
As does price. Since the strippo CE is gone, the lowest price point for a Camry is about $20,000. Our test car lacked luxury features like leather seating and the nav system and it still rang up to more than $26,000. A loaded XLE will go even higher. For the money, though, you do get a lot of car
I rest my case ! Go Maxi Go !!!!
Tammy,
U forgot few main important things.
1) Resale value (used Camry sales go fast like hot cake )
2) Reliability (everyone knows Camry is more reliable than Maxima)
3) Gas mileage (even the V6 Camry has better gas mileage than Maxima; but most of orientals get the 4 cyl ones to save gas and Maxima does not have 4 cylinders )
To me, I still choose Camry over Maxima (even Maxima is also a good car, but Camry is better )
I will go for Maxima.
1. Performance.
2. Resale value depend where are you live.
3.Reliability almost same.
Tui owned Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda thay quality xe nao cung duoc.
Toyota thuong bi head gasket. Nissan va Mazda bi electrical. Honda bi CV boot va shocks.
1) Resale value -- don't have to worry about if it's my favorite car and plan to keep it forever
2) Reliablility --- V.N. people only know thru words of mouth .
I go by the American Specs & latest research/findings/designs etc....
3) Gas mileage -- If you want the speed , say like a corvette, would you be worrying about gas mileage ?
There is a trade off for everything . I'm lucky because my OX & I only live at the most 20 minutes from our work places, and we are so away from the Silicon Valley that traffic is not an issue anymore .
4) Cylinders --if you want 4 --- go for the Altima, that line is being compared to Camry , and is gaining up on the basic Camry too .
Just a matter of time...you will see, it will be the hot item just like the Camry .
Watch out Tammy, you went over the line. No No No and never then Altima can be compared to Camry.
However, with the same amount of money, I'd take the Sexy Maxi over the oldie Camry anytime. Because this what I think:
1) Maxi looks stronger, sexier than camry
2) Maxi will smoke Camry anytime
3) Maxi interior is a lot better than Camry
4) Gas milage? who cares for a couple miles/gal
5) Reliability? Depend. If you take a good care of it, it will last you a long time and Vice Versa. I saw some 4th generation Maxi (95-99) that have about 200k on it still run like new
6) Resale, item 5 takes an important part in resale value.
IMO, I'll go for the Maxi.
Tammy,
if U like Maxima, good for U and there is nothing wrong with that
Believe me, I still see some oriental driving a FORD
I'm just talking about general audience (ORIENTALS) !!!
Go back to the 3 main things to look for a car:
1) Resale value - if U live in a oriental-crowded area like Houston or OC, U put up a Camry for sale, it goes next day and the price does not depreciated as much as Maxima (talking from many experiences)
2) Gas mileage - U (or some other Maxima owners) might not care about it but believe me, 90+% Orientals do care
3) Reliability - Maxima does not have as good reputation about reliability as Camry. From my experience, I've seen more Maxima in the shop than Camry.
Now, let the general audience vote it for themselves
Btw, older Maxima used to compete with Cressida but lost the race.
No way it can compete with Avalon (new generation of Cressida) now !!!
Now, Nissan is trying to have Maxima in the race with Camry and Accord but the sale numbers is still ranked below the other two.
What is that telling?
